Nelson Veras
Nelson Veras (born August 6, 1977 in Salvador da Bahia ) is a Brazilian jazz guitarist.
Act
Veras was discovered by Frank Cassenti and Pat Metheny at the Jazz Festival in Marciac in 1991 ; Aldo Romano made recordings with him, such as his album Chante ; and Jeff Gardner picked him for his albums Sky Dance and Second Home to the studio. He first returned to Brazil to finish his schooling before going to Paris to study at the Conservatory.
In Paris he worked with musicians such as Lee Konitz , Aldo Romano, Dominique di Piazza , Michel Graillier , Malik Mezzadri and Jean-Louis Matinier . With Gildas Bocle and Marcello Pelliterri he recorded the album De Jazz et de Brasil (2001). With the flautist Malik Mezzadri, the bassist Daniel Yvinec and the drummer Stéphane Galland he founded the Nelson Veras Quartet ; In 2004 he released his album Nelson Veras on the Bleu label . More albums under his own name followed at Bee Jazz . In 2009 he performed with Airelle Besson , Jozef Dumoulin and Stéphane Galland at the 22nd International Guitar Festival in Freiburg .
As a sideman, Veras u. a. with Michel Petrucciani , Gary Peacock , Mark Turner , Steve Coleman , Fabrice Moreau , Pablo Held and Mátyás Szandai . He can also be heard on albums by Dimitri from Paris , Jean-Louis Matinier , Hubert Dupont , Jean-Baptiste Boclé, Adam Pierończyk , Frédéric Viale and Félix Zurstrassen.
