Ivete Sangalo
Ivete Maria Dias de Sangalo Cady (* 27 May 1972 in Juazeiro , Bahia ), known as Ivete Sangalo (debate [ ivɛtʃi sɐɡaɫu ]), is a Brazilian Axé - singer and - composer . She achieved great fame in Brazil as the singer of the band Banda Eva . During their time at Banda Eva, the band sold nearly 4 million CDs. In 1999 Sangalo separated from the band and has been active as a solo artist ever since.
Life
Sangalo began playing guitar and singing at school. After the death of her father and brother, Sangalo moved to Salvador da Bahia at the age of 16 , where she worked as a model and saleswoman . A year later she started singing in small bars and clubs. After taking part in several shows and concerts, she was discovered in Morro do Chapéu by producer Jonga Cunha. From then on she was the singer of the Banda Eva. In 1992 she won the Troféu Dorival Caymmi music prize in Salvador. After releasing six CDs with Banda Eva, she began her solo career in 1999.
Musically Sangalo was particularly influenced by Elis Regina and Gilberto Gil . With her distinctive, deep voice, she sings mainly Axé music and Sambareggae . In 2005 she won the Latin Grammy Awards for Best Traditional Brazilian Album. She has also received numerous national awards and is one of the most popular singers.
Since the beginning of your solo career, Sangalo has sold more than 14 million albums. She is the face of several advertising campaigns, including Garnier , Avon , TAM , Banco Itaú and Danone . She also worked in smaller roles on Brazilian TV and film productions.
Sangalo is the mother of a son (* 2009) and two daughters (* 2018).
She is an avowed fan of the EC Vitória football club .
