Adam Pieronczyk (* 24. January 1970 in Elblag , Poland ) is a Polish jazz - saxophonist and composer .

Life

Adam Pierończyk is considered one of the "greatest innovators in Polish jazz" and performs regularly all over the world. Pierończyk studied music at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. In the years 2004–2005 Adam Pieronczyk was the artistic director of two festivals: Jazz aux Oudayas and Jazz au Chellah in Rabat, the capital of Morocco. In 2011–2015 he built up the Sopot Jazz Festival brand as director.

He worked u. a. with Sam Rivers , Archie Shepp , Miroslav Vitous, Gary Thomas , Greg Osby , Bobby McFerrin , Jeff Tain Watts , Trilok Gurtu , Mino Cinelu , Tomasz Stańko , Ted Curson , Avishai Cohen , Ernst Reijseger , Lage Lund , Orlando Le Fleming , Joe Martin , Jean-Paul Bourelly , Anthony Cox , Joey Calderazzo and Leszek Możdżer .

Awards

He was named "best soprano saxophonist" for the 15th time by the specialist journal Jazz Forum . He was twice winner of the Polish music award "Fryderyk", as jazz musician of the year and for the album of the year; He has been nominated eighteen times for this award.
