Joey Calderazzo

Joey Calderazzo (born February 27, 1965 in New Rochelle , New York ) is an American jazz pianist.

Life

Calderazzo, whose older brother is the drummer Gene Calderazzo , began to study classical piano at the age of eight and was later a student of Richie Beirach . In 1987 he became a member of Michael Brecker's quartet . He has worked as the sideman of Bob Belden , Bruce Gertz , Bob Mintzer , John Blake , Dave Stryker , Chuck Bergeron , Arturo Sandoval , George Garzone , Cæcilie Norby , Chris Minh Doky , Vincent Herring , Eugene Pao , Terumasa Hino and Jeff "Tain , among others "Watts . In 1998 he succeeded Kenny Kirkland in the Branford Marsalis Quartet . He also recorded several albums as a band leader and co-leader.
