Gerhard Hardel
Gerhard Hardel (born July 13, 1912 in Bromberg ; † March 3, 1984 ) was a German writer . He also wrote under the pseudonym "Kolma Maier-Puschi".
Life
Gerhard Hardel was the son of a teacher. Before finishing high school , he made extensive hikes across Europe and as far as North Africa . In 1933 he made up his Abitur on the school farm Insel Scharfenberg ; then he studied economics , history and philosophy until 1937 . Hardel initially sympathized politically with the "left" National Socialism of Otto Strasser and then turned to communism. Together with Dietfried Müller-Hegemann , his wife Lilo and others, he belonged to the “National Political Working Group”, a cover organization of communist students, during his studies at Berlin University.
After his studies with the degree of a graduate economist had finished, he was from 1938 as economic adviser operates. From 1941 to 1944 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier in the Wehrmacht . After the end of the war, Hardel worked in various professions, including bookseller and editor . He also began writing his own texts. Since the fifties he lived as a freelance writer in Strausberg near Berlin . He was married to the author Lilo Hardel .
Gerhard Hardel's literary work consists mainly of children's and youth books written from a socialist point of view . In addition to exciting adventure stories, there are biographical novels about Karl Marx 's wife Jenny Marx ("Jenny") and Friedrich Engels ("Marie and her big brother").
Gerhard Hardel had been a member of the GDR Writers' Association since 1953 . In 1966 he received the GDR Ministry of Culture prize for children's and youth literature, in 1968 he received a GDR national prize together with his wife Lilo Hardel, and in 1982 the Bronze Order of the Patriotic Merit .
He is buried in the artists' department at the Friedrichsfelde central cemetery.
