Lilo Hardel (born June 22, 1914 in Berlin ; † August 26, 1999 in Nonnevitz ) was a German writer .

Life

Lilo Hardel was the daughter of a locksmith . After joining the Socialist Student Union in 1928 and the Communist Youth Association of Germany in 1931 , she had to leave school in 1933. From 1933 to 1936 she stayed in exile in France and worked as a gymnastics teacher in Paris . In 1936 she returned to Berlin , where she worked as a typist ; In addition, she was active in the resistance against National Socialism . She married Gerhard Hardel and lived with him in Kronach ( Bavaria ), later in Western Pomerania . After the end of the Second World War the Hardels went to East Berlin , where Lilo Hardel worked for the school radio . Since the early 1950s she lived as a freelance writer with her husband in Strausberg near Berlin .

Lilo Hardel's work, which was widely read in the GDR, consists of children's and young people's books , mostly in a cheerful tone , which were clearly loyal to the SED party line .

Lilo Hardel was a member of the GDR Writers' Association . In addition to numerous awards by the Ministry of Culture of the GDR she received in 1968 together with Gerhard Hardel a national price of the GDR . In 1980 she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit and in 1984 the Alex Wedding Prize .

Lilo Hardel died in the Dransker district of Nonnevitz on Rügen .
