Dave Stryker

Dave Stryker (born March 30, 1957 ) is an American jazz guitarist .

Stryker grew up in Omaha ( Nebraska ) and learned since the age of ten self-taught to play the guitar. In 1980 he came to New York City . Here he became a member of the band of "Brother" Jack McDuff in 1984 , with whom he toured the USA, Canada and Europe over the next two years. From 1986 to 1995 he was a member of the Stanley Turrentine quintet , where he was also able to perform with Dizzy Gillespie and Freddie Hubbard .

In 1988 Stryker's first album was released under his own name; since 1990 he has been under contract with the SteepleChase Music label . He works with various bands of his own: the Stryker / Slagle Band , The Blue to the Bone Band , the Shades Project and the Trio Mundo (with Manolo Badrena and Andy McKee ).
