Bruce Barth
Bruce Barth (* 7. September 1958 in Pasadena , California ) is an American jazz - pianist and keyboardist.
Live and act
Bruce Barth moved to Brooklyn in 1988 , went on a tour of Japan with Nat Adderley and became known in the mid-1980s for his work on recordings with Orange Then Blue and Vincent Herring, among others . He played in the bands of Terence Blanchard , LaVerne Butler , Steve Davis , Ingrid Jensen , Randy Johnston , Sam Newsome , Dick Oatts , Perico Sambeat , Dave Stryker , Jerry Weldon and Steve Wilson in the 1990s . In the early 1990s, his first two albums, In Focus and Morning Call, were created for the Enja label ; In 1997 he recorded the trio album Don't Blame Me with bassist Ed Howard and Billy Drummond for the Double Time label; 1999 followed Fresh Sound Where Eagles Fly with Perico Sambeat.
In March 2000 Barth played the solo album American Landscape ; At the end of 2000 he recorded East and West in an expanded line-up with Terell Stafford and Steve Wilson . In 2002 he appeared in a trio with bassist Ugonna Okegwo and drummer Al Foster in New York's Village Vangard . Most recently, the DVD Live at Café del Theater was released with Doug Weiss (bass) and Montez Coleman (drums), with original compositions and interpretations of Monk, Mingus and Lennon / McCartney titles. Currently (2019) he plays in the bands of Adam Kolker , Dave Baron , Nick Hempton , Luke Sellick and Claire Daly .
Barth has taught at Berklee College of Music , Temple University in Philadelphia, and Queens College . Barth is also active as a producer, including albums by René Marie , Terell Stafford, Carla Cook and Laurent Coq.
