René Marie (born November 7, 1955 in Virginia ) is an American jazz singer .

René Marie had piano lessons as a child; as a teenager she sang in a band. But it was only after raising her children that she began a career as a professional singer at the age of 41. It started out once a week in a hotel; In 1997 her first album was released on the Maxjazz label. Between 2000 and 2004 she recorded four more albums for the label, including such sensational albums as How Can I Keep from Singing? or Vertigo , on which guest musicians such as Mulgrew Miller , Chris Potter , Robert Hurst , Jeff "Tain" Watts and John Hart participated.
