Robert Leslie "Bob" Hurst III (* 4. October 1964 in Detroit ) is an American bassist of the post bop . He worked with Wynton Marsalis .

Robert Hurst was best known as the "house bassist" of trumpeter Wynton Marsalis, whose band he belonged to from 1985 (for the album J Mood ). He has also appeared as a sideman on board sessions of Harry Connick Jr , Kevin Eubanks , Ricky Ford , Kenny Kirkland , Branford Marsalis (on the album Crazy People Music ), Mulgrew Miller , Marvin "Smitty" Smith , Dave Stryker , Tony Williams and Robi Botos with . He accompanied the pianist Geri Allen in 1990 on her album The Nurturer . In 1992 he recorded the album Robert Hurst Presents: Robert Hurst under his own name for the Japanese label DIW with guest musicians such as Marcus Belgrave , bass clarinetist Ralph Miles Jones III , Branford Marsalis (and members of his band).
