John Hart (guitarist)

John Hart (* 15. June 1961 in Fort Belvoir , Virginia ) is an American jazz - guitarist .

Live and act

Hart began playing the guitar at the age of twelve, graduating from the University of Miami in 1983, and then moving to New York City . There he worked with Terumasa Hino , Larry Goldings and with Jack McDuff (1993), with whom he went on tour. Then he worked with Diane Hubka . He gained fame through two albums each for Blue Note Records and Concord Records ; the album High Drama starred Chris Potter , Marc Copland , Jay Anderson and Jeff Hirshfield . In 2004 the album Indivisible was created for Hep Records with stylistic borrowings from Jim Hall and John Scofield .

Hart also works as a music teacher at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami and has worked on recordings for Chris Potter ( Pure , 1994), Steve Davis and Bob Belden ( Straight to My Heart , 1991).

The authors Richard Cook and Brian Marton see Hart in the tradition of Wes Montgomery and Jim Hall.
