Uimon steppe

The Uimon Steppe ( Russian Уймонская степь Uimonskaja step ) is a plateau with steppe-like vegetation in the southwest of the Russian part of the Altai , in the southwest of Siberia .

The Uimon steppe has an east-west extension of 35 km and a width in north-south direction of 10 to 12 km. It lies at an altitude of about 900 m. The plain is traversed by the left Ob source river Katun . The Katun ridge ( Katunski chrebet ) rises to the south , the highest mountain range in the Altai with the 4506  m high Belucha ; north of the plain is the Terekta ridge ( Terektinski chrebet ).

Administratively, the area belongs to the Ust-Koksa Raion of the Altai Republic . The Ust-Koksa administrative center is the largest settlement in the Uimon steppe.
