Maxjazz

Maxjazz (also MAXJAZZ ) is an American jazz label that was founded in 1998.

The jazz label Maxjazz was founded in 1998 by the investment banker Richard "Rich" McDonnell (1945–2014) in St. Louis . McDonnell ran the company full-time after retiring from his previous job in 2002. Recordings of the label were made in St. Louis a. a. with local musicians like the Kennedy Brothers, Dave Venn, Mardra and Reggie Thomas, Paul DeMarinis and Dave Black, as well as with nationally known artists like LaVerne Butler , Carla Cook , Geoffrey Keezer , René Marie , Rebecca Martin , Mulgrew Miller , Russell Malone , Jeremy Pelt , Eric Reed , Terell Stafford , Jessica Williams and Steve Wilson . A number of albums were recorded in the New York jazz club Jazz Standard . The total of over 75 Maxjazz productions are distributed by Naxos. In 2004 Maxjazz was nominated for the JJA Awards of the Jazz Journalists Association .
