Jeremy Pelt
Jeremy Pelt (* 4. November 1976 in California ) is an American jazz - trumpet and flugelhorn player .
Live and act
Jeremy Pelt plays in the tradition of hard bop legends Lee Morgan and Freddie Hubbard . He had classical trumpet lessons in elementary school, but later concentrated on jazz. He then studied jazz improvisation and film music at the Berklee School of Music in Boston , where he earned a Bachelor of Arts .
After graduation , Pelt moved to New York City , where he worked. a. with Jimmy Heath , Frank Wess , Charli Persip , Keter Betts , John Hicks , Winard Harper , Lonnie Plaxico , Cedar Walton , Roy Hargrove , Ravi Coltrane , Greg Osby and Cassandra Wilson ; In the early 2000s he played with Ralph Peterson ( The Art of War , 2001) and in the Mingus Big Band ( Tonight at Noon , 2001). He also worked in 2001 on the album Pharoah's Children by JD Allen III and Dreaming of Cannonball by Louis Hayes . In 2002 he became a member of Vincent Herring's band and was a member of Frank Foster's Big Band ( We Do It Diff'rent ); there was also a first album under his own name on Fresh Sound Records ( Profile ), u. a. with Ralph Peterson. In 2002 the album Insight followed on the Criss Cross Label . In the same year he played on the album Brotherhood by Marcus Strickland and worked on Wayne Shorter's Verve album Alegria .
In 2003 Pelt recorded another album with Mulgrew Miller , David O'Rourke , Peter Washington and Lewis Nash ( Close to My Heart ) and worked on the album Intuition by tenor saxophonist Wayne Escoffery . In 2004 he worked on Vincent Herrings album "Mr. Wizard" and accompanied the singer René Marie ( Serene Renegade ). In 2005 he was a member of Gerald Wilson's Big Band ( In My Time ). He also worked with Nicola Angelucci and Gerald Cleaver ( Live at Firehouse 12 ).
