Vicente Archer (* around 1975 in Woodstock (New York) ) is an American jazz musician ( double bass ).

Live and act

Archer initially played autodidactically at the age of 16 and at the age of 20 studied at the New England Conservatory in Boston with Gene Bertoncini , Jerry Bergonzi and Danilo Perez , before moving to Northeastern University after a year and the double bass became his main instrument. Soon he was discovered by Donald Harrison and Eric Reed and taken on tour. In the following years he played with musicians such as Terence Blanchard , Kenny Garrett , Wynton Marsalis / Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Stanley Jordan and Stefon Harris . The first recordings were made in 1998 with Donald Harrison ( Free to Be , Impulse!). In 2000 he graduated with a degree in Management Information Systems and Business Management and moved to New York City.

From the 2000s, Archer u. a. with Mary Stallings , Louis Hayes ' Cannonball Legacy Band, Marcus Printup , Jeremy Pelt , Nicholas Payton , Myron Walden , George Colligan , Jaleel Shaw , Walter Smith III , Robert Glasper , Danny Grissett , Chihiro Yamanaka , Matija Dedić , Jorge Sylvester , Marcus Strickland , Jacques Schwarz-Bart and Antonio Figura . In the 2010s he was also involved in recordings by Lisa Kirchner , Bruce Barth , Nick Vayenas , Norah Jones , Joanna Pascale , Matthew Stevens and the Black Art Jazz Collective. In the field of jazz he was involved in 47 recording sessions between 1998 and 2017.
