Matija Dedić (born March 2, 1973 in Zagreb ) is a Croatian jazz musician (piano, composition).

Live and act

Dedić, son of Arsen Dedić and Gabi Novak , began taking classical piano lessons at the age of five. He graduated from the music school in Zagreb. He later studied at the jazz department of the Graz University of Music until he graduated. He has appeared in orchestras and combos as well as with musicians such as Boško Petrović , Alvin Queen , Martin Drew , Mark Murphy , Patrizia Conte , David Gazarov , Gianni Basso , Miles Griffith , Önder Focan , Jean-Louis Rassinfosse , Anca Parghel , Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen , Tamara Obrovac and others. Dedić worked as a solo pianist and worked with Natali Dizdar and other musicians of various styles as a studio musician. Dedić also belonged to the Ladislav Fidri Quintet, the New Tribe group and the Boilers Quartet , with which he has recorded three albums. Together with Boško Petrović and the Boilers All Stars , he recorded the album That's It . In 1998 he founded his own trio with which he also appears internationally (occasionally with Gabi Novak). He released more than ten albums under his own name. In 2015 he presented a tribute album for his father with Matija Svira Arsena , which topped the Croatian charts several times in 2016 . He is a multiple winner of the Porin Prize and was named the best jazz pianist in Croatia.
