David Gazarov (born May 19, 1965 in Baku ) is a German jazz pianist of Armenian origin who lives in Munich .

Gazarov, the son of a painter and a musician, who was himself a composer and directed the dance and entertainment orchestra of the TV and radio station Baku , began his training as a concert pianist at the age of four. He has given concerts as a celebrated children's talent was taught by the Shostakovich -Schülerin Elmira Nəzirova and received from his father a jazz foundation . In 1989, due to the worsening conditions for Armenians, Gazarov migrated from Baku to Moscow, where, after completing his classical training, he studied jazz at the Gnesins Music Institute for two years. As early as the age of twenty he performed at the jazz festivals in Tbilisi, Yerevan, St. Petersburg and Moscow, sometimes in a duo with his fellow student at the time, Aziza Mustafa Zadeh .

Gazarov has lived in Munich since 1991, where he worked as a bar pianist at the Bayerischer Hof , where he started his own series of jazz concerts and was involved in some radio recordings for the Bavarian radio . With his trio he presented numerous albums. The pianist was awarded the State Prize for Young Artists of the Free State of Bavaria in 1999 for his versatile commitment .

Since 2000 he has also developed into a specialist in classical jazz crossovers and has recorded several CDs, for example with the clarinetist Karl-Heinz Steffens ( Lush Life ) and as a soloist with the Bamberg Symphony ( Gershwin meets Renaissance ). He was also a member of the Klazz Brothers from 2008 to 2010 , with whom he presented the album Chopin Lounge (2010). In 2012, Mulo Francel brought him for his album Escape . He also played with Johnny Griffin , James Morrison , Bill Goodwin , Martin Drew , Roberta Gambarini , Jimmy Woode and Charly Antolini .
