Chris Lachotta
Chris Lachotta (born November 6, 1959 in Frankfurt am Main ; † June 8, 2016 in Munich ) was a German double bass player who made a name for himself in modern jazz .
Live and act
Lachotta completed a classical double bass training at the music academies in Munich and Würzburg, then deepened the jazz aspects at the Vermont Jazz Center with Attila Zoller , Steve Gilmore and Keith Copeland and in 1991 at the Brooklyn College of Music. He also had lessons from Rufus Reid , Red Mitchell , Dave Holland , Jeff Fuller and Kenny Werner .
Lachotta initially worked with the chamber orchestra of the Festival Strings Lucerne , performed repeatedly with the Bavarian Radio Orchestra and was active at the Deutsches Theater in Munich in productions such as Kiss me Kate and Cotton Club and as a theater musician at the Munich Kammerspiele . In jazz he played with Kenny Wheeler , Mal Waldron , Monty Waters , Horace Tapscott , Joe Bonner , Pat , Joe LaBarbera , Claudio Roditi , Marcus Woelfle , Joe Kienemann and Kirk Lightsey . He also performed repeatedly with an embryo ( Ni Hau , 1996). He recorded the albums TS Bremen and 55 Days with Christian Krischkowsky's quintet . He was also a member of Steve Reid's quartet ( Live in Europe ). He was part of David Gazarov's trio ( Black Vision , Autumnal Giant Steps ). He can also be heard on albums by Michael Hornstein , Jenny Evans , Bernhard Ullrich and Embryo. Since 2002 he was also a member of the comedy group Table for Two . He also accompanied the Persian drum virtuoso ( beaker drum and frame drum ) Hadi Alizadeh (* 1973 in Ilam ) in the Alamto group .
Lachotta, who last lived near Munich, died on June 8, 2016 after a short, serious illness.
