Gabi Novak (* 1936 in Berlin ) is a Croatian pop and pop singer .

Life

Novak's father was Croatian, her mother German. At the beginning of the Second World War , the family fled to the island of Hvar . Her career began in Zagreb at a young age . Their first single, Vreme za Twist , was released in 1959. Numerous records and music albums followed. Her career peaked in the 1960s. Her career continues to this day and made her the most successful pop singer in Croatia . In addition to her work as a pop singer, Gabi Novak also interpreted chansons and jazz ; her jazz album In Concert: Jazzarella ZKM 2009 was produced by her son, the pianist Matija Dedić .

When she received the Porin Discography Prize in 2006, she was honored for her life's work.

She was married to the Croatian singer Arsen Dedić , who died on August 17, 2015, since 1973 .
