history
The library of Valdagno was founded in 1956 in Palazzo Festari. In 1968 it moved to the Palazzo Comunale , the seat of the city administration, but in 1970 it returned to the first floor of the founding location. At that time the book inventory comprised around 9,000 volumes. In 1978 the Archivio Storico, the city's historical archive, moved into the library. In 1983 the company moved to its current location. The trigger was the donation from the Marzotto family, who bequeathed their Villa Valle palace to the municipality. The stock of books had meanwhile grown to 17,000 volumes. The digital recording of the now 27,000 volumes began in 1992, as did the corresponding catalog management. A first page on the Internet was created back in 1997. Since then, the library has grown by around 2,000 volumes annually, the inventory now comprises 55,000 documents, plus a virtual library with access to around 300,000 titles. The provision of the printed works takes place over a two-week period.
The Biblioteca civica Villa Valle belongs to the library network of the Province of Vicenza (Servizio Bibliotecario Provinciale Vicentino - SBPV).
