Nicola Angelucci

Nicola Angelucci (born July 10, 1979 in Abruzzo ) is an Italian jazz musician ( drums ).

Live and act

Angelucci received lessons from an early age. He moved to Rome in 2000, where he was tutored by drummer Lorenzo Tucci and pianist Luca Mannutza . He also studied at Columbia College in Chicago.

Angelucci was a member of Enrico Pieranunzi's trio , toured with Mario Biondi and belonged to the groups of Fabrizio Bosso , Rosario Bonaccorso , Giovanni Tommaso , Enrico Pieranunzi / Simona Severini, Giovanni Mazzarino , Bebo Ferra, Max Ionata and Mattia Cigalini . He also played with jazz stars such as Dee Dee Bridgewater , Wynton Marsalis and Eddie Gomez . In 2010 he released his debut album The First One , on which Sam Yahel , Jeremy Pelt , Johannes Weidenmüller or Kengo Nakamura and Francesco Puglisi participated. In 2013 and 2015 the following albums followed: Beyond the Drums (with Peter Bernstein ) and Changes . With Luca Mannutza and Gianluca Renzi he formed the Roma Trio , which has so far released five albums. He has contributed to over 60 recordings.

Prizes and awards

Angelucci was the winner of the Baronissi Jaz competition in 2000 and 2004 and the 2004 Hoeilaart Belgian jazz competition. In 2002 he was honored with the Grand Audience Award at the Tramplin Jazz Avignon Concours. Benny Golson once described Angelucci as the best European drummer he had ever played with.
