Jazz Journalists Association

The Jazz Journalists Association (JJA) is an international association of journalists, authors and other media representatives on jazz with a focus on the USA and Canada. The JJA was founded in 1986 in Chicago , the location of its first annual meeting. In 2011 it had around 500 members. It publishes the quarterly Jazz Notes magazine .

The JJA has been awarding jazz prizes ( JJA Awards ) annually since 1997 in the two main categories Jazz Musicians and Jazz Journalism , which are presented in June in New York City.

Howard Mandel has been president since 1993 .
