Manolo Badrena

Manolo Badrena (born March 17, 1952 in Santurce , Puerto Rico ) is a Puerto Rican percussionist . He was a member of the jazz and fusion band Weather Report from 1976 to 1977 .

Badrena works mainly in jazz and Latin American music . He also worked on publications of pop and world music . Manolo Badrena has worked with The Zawinul Syndicate , The Rolling Stones , Mezzoforte , Spyro Gyra , Art Blakey , Bill Evans , Ahmad Jamal , Laurie Anderson , Carla Bley , the Talking Heads , Blondie , Michael Franks , Chic and Eliane Elias, among others .

From 1981 to 1990 he was part of the formation Eyewitness of the American guitarist Steve Khan , with whom he recorded several albums. Since 2010 he has been to Europe several times with Ahmad Jamal's quartet, where albums such as Ahmad Jamal Featuring Yusef Lateef Live and Marseille were created.

Currently Badrena lives in Fairview in the US state of New Jersey . He is the band leader of the Latin jazz band Trio Mundo .
