Lage Lund (* 1977 ) is a Norwegian jazz guitarist living in the United States .

Lund grew up in Norway and started playing guitar when he was thirteen. He belonged to the band of the pianist / organist Steinar Nickelsen . After moving to the United States, he initially received a Fulbright Scholarship in 2002 , with which he studied at New York's Juilliard School . In 2005 he won the Thelonious Monk competition in guitar. In addition to his studies, he performed in New York jazz clubs such as 55 Bar , the Smalls and the Jazz Gallery , and made guest appearances at Lincoln Center and Kennedy Center . Lund played with Wynton Marsalis , Ingrid Jensen and Seamus Blake , on whose album Bellweather (2008) he participated. After a debut album, which he released in 2007 without a label, Lund released his second album Early Songs (2008) on the Criss Cross Jazz label . In 2010 the album Unlikely Stories followed , with the drummer Bill Stewart , bassist Ben Street and pianist Edward Simon . He also belonged to the band of Orlando le Fleming . Lund plays u. a. a Gibson "Byrdland" and an instrument by the German guitar maker Stefan Schottmüller. Down Beat Critics Poll 2020 he was the winner in the category "Guitar / Rising Star".
