Christophe Wallemme

Christophe Wallemme (* 1964 in Paris ) is a French double bassist of the Modern Jazz .

Live and act

Wallemme, who grew up partly in Lebanon and India, learned to play the guitar at the age of 15. Under the impression of a recording by Scott LaFaro , he switched to bass. Since 1982 he first studied classical double bass at the Paris Conservatory . He soon switched to jazz camp and studied with Cesarius Alvim and Hein van de Geyn , but also completed workshops with Dave Liebman , Richie Beirach , Kenny Barron and Victor Lewis . In the jazz clubs of Paris he accompanied Walter Davis junior , Ted Curson , René Urtreger and Maxim Saury .

In 1988 he was involved in recordings by Ludovic de Pressac ( Bop for Sale ) and Daniel Beaussier ( Correspondances , Sanscrit ). In the early 1990s he performed with Tom Harrell , Éric Barret , Christian Escoudé , Michel Graillier , Alain Jean-Marie , Barry Altschul , Richard Galliano , Aldo Romano and Jacky Terrasson . He was also in the recording studio with Steve Potts , Sylvain Beuf ( Impro Primo ), Élisabeth Caumont ( Ciao mon Cœur ), Jean-Loup Longnon ( Cyclades ), Manuel Rocheman and Simon Goubert ( Tropic City ).

In 1994 he founded the Trio Prysm with Pierre de Bethmann and Benjamin Henocq , with whom he recorded several albums until 2001 and repeatedly went on tour, also internationally. Wallemme also worked with Jean-Pierre Como , Louis Winsberg , Marc Berthoumieux, Jean-Loup Longnon , David Patrois, Daniel Mille , David Linx / Diederik Wissels , Olivier Louvel and Louis Winsberg. In 2004 he presented his first album.

Prizes and awards

In 1988 he received the Soloist Prize at the La Défense Festival , where he was awarded first prize in 1994. He was also nominated for the Django d'Or and with Prysm for the album of the same name for Victoires de la musique .
