Jean-Pierre Como

Jean-Pierre Como (* 1963 in Paris ) is a French jazz pianist. He is the founder of the jazz rock group Sixun .

Como comes from a family with Italian roots and attended the conservatory (classical piano) in Paris. He mainly taught himself jazz music by himself and initially played with musicians such as Bernard Maury, François Couturier and Michel Sarbady . At the same time he began to compose (first recordings of his compositions in 1983) and accompanied Zaka Percussions , Rido Bayonne and the singer Pierre Vassiliu. In 1984 he founded the successful jazz rock group Sixun . In addition, he regularly plays in Antoine Illouz's quintet and in Antoine Hervé's big band .

Como released several albums under its own name, u. a. “Empreinte” (Blue Note 1999), “Express Paris-Roma” (with guitarist Louis Winsberg , bassist Christophe Wallemme , drummer Stéphane Huchard , saxophonist Stefano Di Battista , 1995) and “L´ame sœur” (Nocturne Jazz 2006), a big band suite for his sister who died of cancer in 1998 at the age of 38 (together with Pierre Bertrand , co-founder of the “ Paris Jazz Big Band ”, Sylvain Beuf , Paolo Fresu ). His album Répertoire (2010) was created in a trio with Aldo Romano and Diego Imbert ; Boléro followed in 2013 (with Javier Girotto , Dario Deidda and Minino Garay ).
