Dario Deidda (born March 1, 1968 in Salerno ) is an Italian jazz musician ( double bass , electric bass ).

Live and act

Deidda comes from a musical family; both parents played the piano; his brother Sandro is also a jazz musician. He himself started playing drums at the age of six, but soon fell in love with the double bass. He graduated from the conservatory and also studied electric bass and piano.

Deidda was one of the bands of Ettore Fioravanti and Roberto Gatto . He also worked with Danilo Rea , Paolo Fresu , Maria Pia De Vito , Antonello Salis , Stefano Di Battista , Enrico Pieranunzi , Flavio Boltro , Franco D'Andrea and Tullio de Piscopo . He has also performed with James Moody , George Coleman , Kirk Lightsey , Mulgrew Miller , Kurt Rosenwinkel , Dave Liebman , Randy Brecker , Bob Mintzer , Benny Golson and Vinnie Colaiuta . He has accompanied Carl Anderson and Pino Daniele on tours several times.

Deidda has been involved as a sideman on more than 60 albums, among others with Salvatore Bonafede , Jean-Pierre Como , Rosario Giuliani , Nicola Conte , Enrico Rava and Fiorella Mannoia . Under his own name, he recorded the album 3 from the Ghetto in 2003 with Julian O. Mazzariello and Stéphane Huchard . He recorded The Auditorium Session with Tom Harrell , Maurizio Giammarco , Fabio Zeppetella and Fabrizio Sferra . His album My Favorite Strings vol. 1 followed in 2017

Deidda has been teaching jazz at the Salerno Conservatory since 2004. Between 2010 and 2017 he won the Jazz It Awards eight times in a row for best jazz electric bass player.
