Ettore Fioravanti (born May 18, 1958 in Rome ) is an Italian jazz percussionist and band leader .

Fioravanti studied classical percussion with Antonio Striano at the Conservatorio Alfredo Casella in L'Aquila and composition and arrangement with Bruno Tommaso and Marco Tiso . He has been working professionally as a jazz musician since 1975. He has been a member of the Paolo Fresu Quintet since it was founded in 1983 , has been a member of the Piero Bassini Trio since 1995 , of the Terre di mezzo group since 2000 and of the Millenovecento group since 2005 .

He was also a member of the bands of Paolo Damiani , Gianluigi Trovesi , Roberto Ottaviano and Bruno Tommaso and worked as a sideman with musicians such as Karl Berger , Marcello Melis , Tony Oxley , Enrico Rava , David Liebman , Massimo Urbani , Mal Waldron , Kenny Wheeler , Gunther Schuller , Steve Lacy , Sheila Jordan and Tim Berne .

Fioravanti has been leading his own bands since 1990: until 1995 the Ettore Fioravanti Quartet (with Fabio Zeppetella , Dario Deidda and Ramberto Ciammarughi ), the Ricercar scintille (1995–96) and since 1995 the group Belcanto .

In addition to his work as a jazz musician, he also worked at the Teatro Stabile della Toscana (1980-82), performed with the RAI symphony orchestra , took part in Giorgio Battistelli's Experimentum mundi and performed with the dance company Danzatori scalzi .
