The Gmina Krasnopol is a rural municipality in the Powiat Sejneński of the Podlaskie Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is the village of the same name ( Lithuanian Krasnapolio ).
geography
The rural municipality of Krasnopol has a total area of 171.63 km², of which 65% is used for agriculture and 21% for forestry (2002). Neighboring municipalities are: Giby , Nowinka , Puńsk , Sejny , Suwałki and Szypliszki .
history
Between 1975 and 1998 the rural community belonged to what was then the Suwałki Voivodeship .
On June 30, 2015, the population of Krasnopol consisted of 3,844 people, of whom 1985 were male and 1,859 were female.
