August Heuser

August Heuser (* 1949 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

Heuser initially worked as a pastoral consultant in parishes and from 1980 as a research assistant in the department of Catholic theology at Goethe University , where he received his doctorate in 1987 . He worked at the Academy of the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart , in the School Department of the Diocese of Limburg and as a consultant for art and culture at the German Bishops' Conference in Bonn (1998). He was also chief custodian at the cathedral museum and pastoral consultant in St. Gallus. Since 2002 he has been director of the Cathedral Museum in Frankfurt and the Diocesan Museum in Limburg an der Lahn . He teaches as an honorary professor in the Catholic theology department at Goethe University.

His main areas of research and interests are questions of image didactics for religious education, museum education and the integration of the church and modern arts.
