Diego Imbert (* 1966 in Paris ) is a French bassist of the Jazz , who also serves as a music journalist works.

Live and act

Imbert initially received classical violin lessons for ten years; at the age of 15 he switched to the electric bass . In 1986 and 1987 he began jazz training at the Center d'Informations Musicales Paris , which he completed at the Center Musical et Créatif de Nancy in 1989. In 1991 he started writing for Bass & Drums magazine; later he also worked for the magazine Guitare & Bass . Temporarily still operating from Nancy , he became a member of the big band Shake Orchestra in 1992 , with whom he recorded the album Angustia d'amour (1999). He increasingly shifted to playing the double bass , which he studied with Eddie Gomez , Hein van de Geyn and Jean-François Jenny-Clark . In 1999 he was awarded the silver medal at the Concours International de Contrebasse de Capbreton .

In 1993 he founded his own band Amestys , with which he released an album and performed at various French festivals. Further albums under his own name followed. Since 1998 he has belonged to various groups of Biréli Lagrène , with whom he also recorded two albums. He also belonged to the bands of Viviane Ginapé, Sylvain Beuf ( Another Building ), Flavio Boltro and Jean-Yves Jung .

Between 1992 and 2018, Imbert was involved in 42 recording sessions; he can also be heard on albums by Jean-Marie Viguier, Derrick James / Wesley G, Frédéric Schlick , Olivier Strauch, Ro Gebhardt , Alex Jacquemin, André Ceccarelli , Dorado Schmitt and Rocky Gresset . He has also appeared with Archie Shepp , Aldo Romano , Richard Galliano , Éric Legnini , Enrico Pieranunzi , Antonio Faraò and Jean-Michel Pilc . As a composer, he also wrote stage and ballet music.
