Dania König (* 1978 in Villingen ) is a German musician , songwriter and singer .

Life

König was born in the Black Forest and grew up near Karlsruhe . She began taking piano lessons at the age of six; later she also learned instruments such as flute, accordion and guitar and took singing lessons. At the same age she began to invent her own melodies. She studied jazz and popular music at the Folkwang Hochschule Essen and at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Mannheim , where she later taught jazz singing and voice training from 2003 to 2005 . In 2008 she began teaching at the Institute for Music at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences in the subjects of voice training, piano as a minor and composition in the popular music department; she currently has a teaching position for “band coaching” there.

In 2003 she founded the band Königwerq , whose front singer and songwriter Dania König is. This was followed by nationwide appearances and the release of the albums Königwerq (2005) and It's Time (2007) with Universal Music . In addition, Königwerq took part in the German preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Unschlagbar” in 2005 and played in the opening act for tours in Germany by international musicians and bands such as Lionel Richie and Foreigner .

König released several albums and a concept album as a solo artist. In terms of their ideological Christianity, they appeared on scene labels such as Gerth Medien and Hänssler Music . In addition, she took part in numerous productions by Christian music producers such as Arne Kopfermann or Lothar Kosse and performed live together with re: jazz , 4yourSoul and Tobias Kremer Big Band . She can also be heard (as Daniela Koenig) on ​​an album by Ro Gebhardt .

As a songwriter, König wrote, among other things, the official setting of the 2014 annual slogan of the Ecumenical Study Group for Bible Reading . For years she lived in Southern California with her husband, the American musician Dino Soldo, and three children. The family has been based in a small village in the Rhineland since 2014 .
