Ro Gebhardt

Roland "Ro" Gebhardt (* 1963 in Neunkirchen / Saar ) is a German jazz musician ( guitar , arrangement , composition ).

Gebhardt studied popular music at the Conservatoire de Musique in Luxembourg and at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater . On a scholarship, he continued his studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston with Mick Goodrick and John Abercrombie . He then completed an arrangement and composition course / jazz at the Cologne University of Music . Since 1989 he has worked as a musician, composer and arranger for various jazz, latin, pop and fusion ensembles and has recorded several albums under his own name; He also worked on productions in cooperation with the Saarländischer Rundfunk and Bayerischer Rundfunk . In 2006 he appeared in a trio with Jean-Marc Robin and Thomas Heidepriem . With his European Jazz Organ Trio with Matthias Bergmann , he appeared in the Saarland representation at the federal level in 2013 . Gebhardt works as a music teacher and guest lecturer at various universities in Saarbrücken, Mainz, Cologne, Nuremberg and at the Jazz & Rock Schools in Freiburg . He also heads the Ensemble Electric Jazzgang .

In 1996 he received the Stephen D. Holland Award for outstanding artistic achievement in Boston .
