Roland Höppner (born July 25, 1967 in Herne ) is a German jazz drummer .

Career

Höppner started playing the piano at the age of seven. In 1982 he took his first drum lessons and was already a prize winner in the Jugend jazzt competition the following year . From 1988 to 1996 he studied instrumental pedagogy at the Cologne University of Music . Since 1989 he has been teaching drums at the Open House Jazz School in Cologne and for several years at the Cologne Music Academy.

He played in groups such as the Eugen Cicero Trio , the Matthias Broede Group and the Claudius Valk Trio and performed with musicians such as Matthias Nadolny , Werner Neumann , Jeanne Caroll , Denise Brooks and Helge Schneider . He has worked on CD recordings for the Delbroux Bass Society , Double You , Nadja Schubert , the Andreas Schickentanz Quintett , Amy Antin and Johannes Schenk and Friends .
