Pierre-Alain Goualch

Pierre-Alain Goualch (born February 5, 1973 in Toulon ) is a French jazz pianist .

Live and act

Goualch, whose mother is a singer and his father is also a musician, learned to play the piano from the age of seven. Tony Petrucciani introduced him to jazz . With him he also accompanied musicians such as Thomas Bramerie , Phil and Christophe Levan, Stéphane Belmondo , Patrick Manouguian, Pierre Sim , Rémi Vignolo and Olivier Témime .

At the age of 18 he left the south of France to study at the Center musical et créatif de Nancy . There he met Diego Imbert and Franck Agulhon, with whom he formed a trio. He also played in the Orchester Régional de Jazz en Lorraine . In recent years he has also worked with Nicolas Folmer , André Ceccarelli , Ernie Hammes, Randy Brecker , Lew Soloff , Ted Curson , Bob Mintzer , Hector Zazou , Ro Gebhardt , Daniel Yvinec , Elisabeth Kontomanou and Laïka Fatien .

Prizes and awards

In 1995 he received first prize at the Concours International de Piano Jazz de Toulon and the Concours national de jazz de la Défense . For his album Exploring the Music of Serge Gainsbourg he was nominated for both the Django d'Or and the Victoires du Jazz in 2001.
