Thomas Bramerie (born September 18, 1965 in Bergerac ) is a French jazz musician ( double bass , composition ).

Bramerie grew up in Toulon . There he began to study guitar with Tony Petrucciani in 1980 and continued his training with Jean-Paul Florens in 1984. He then started playing the electric bass in the group of Stéphane and Lionel Belmondo , but finally decided in 1988 to play the double bass. He has toured with Peter King , Ted Nash and Bobby Porcelli and performed in concert with Chet Baker , Toots Thielemans , Horace Parlan , Johnny Griffin and Steve Grossman .

In 1991 he moved to Paris, where he accompanied Barney Wilen , Éric Barret and Alain Jean-Marie . In 1992 he formed a rhythm group with Olivier Hutman and Sangoma Everett , which supported numerous soloists such as Clifford Jordan , Frank Wess , Philip Catherine , Tom Harrell , Joe Lovano , Ernie Watts , James Moody and Benny Golson at club concerts . Between 1993 and 1996 he was one of the bands of Laurent de Wilde , the Belmondo brothers, Christian Escoudé and André Ceccarelli , with whom he toured and recorded. He also worked with soloists such as Brad Mehldau , Tommy Flanagan , Jimmy Scott , Clark Terry , John Scofield and Teddy Edwards .

Since 1997 Bramerie lived in New York City and worked in the groups of Ari Hoenig , David Berkman , Jerome Sabbagh , Eric Reed and David Schnitter . With Dee Dee Bridgewater , the album Live at Yoshi’s was created in 2000 ; with her he also toured the world. He also played at international festivals and major European clubs with Al Foster and David Sánchez . Since 2002 he has been a member of Simon Shaheen's ensemble and since 2004 he has been back in the trio of Jean-Michel Pilc , with whom he recorded two albums in New York.

In 2006 Bramerie returned to France and was involved in Pierrick Pedron's album Deep in a Dream (with Mulgrew Miller and Lewis Nash ). He was also a member of Julien Loureau's Saigon Quartet and the bands of André Ceccarelli, Baptiste Trotignon and Elisabeth Kontomanou , with whom he recorded for their 2007 album Back to My Groove . He subsequently became a member of the Bojan Z trio and the bands of Richard Galliano , Didier Lockwood , Michel Legrand , Éric Le Lann , Sylvain Luc and Aldo Romano . In 2018 he released his debut album Here with his trio (which includes Carl-Henri Morisset and drummer Elie Martin-Charrière) and guests .

Bramerie was nominated for the Victoires de la Musique for various projects - with Pierrick Pedron ( Kubic 'Monk , 2013) and Stéphane Belmondo's Love for Chet (2016); he was also involved in Eric Legnini's The Vox , which was awarded a Victoire du jazz in 2011 .
