Sangoma Everett

Sangoma Grover Everett (born January 7, 1952 in Norfolk , Virginia ) is an American jazz musician ( drums , composition ) who lives in France.

Live and act

Everett began playing drums and bass in high school when he was eleven. He later took piano and composition lessons from Consuela Lee in order to attend the Berklee College of Music in the summer of 1971 . In 1977 he moved to New York, where he first played with Bill Lee and Clifford Jordan , with whom he also toured the Caribbean. He also worked with Barry Harris , Chris Anderson , Muriel Winston and Joe Newman . In 1979 he settled in Paris; from there he worked with Jimmy Smith , Benny Golson , Steve Lacy , Dizzy Gillespie , Dee Daniels, Joe Lee Wilson , La Velle, Al Gray , Jimmy Forrest , Mal Waldron , Archie Shepp and Kirk Lightsey . In recent years he has appeared with Carl Craig & Corey Harris and Jean Toussaint . He toured with his Oriental Caravan , which includes Jacques Schwarz-Bart , Anne Ducros Majid Bekkas , Laurent de Wilde and Abdelfettah El Houssaini. He also founded his own trio with the pianist Bastien Brison and the bassist Christophe Lincontang. Everett has been involved in 22 recordings of jazz albums since 1983; He has recorded with Jeri Brown ( I've Got Your Number ), Andrea Pozza ( Drop This Thing ), Liz McComb ( Fire ), Joe Haider and Consuela Lee ( Piano Voices ).
