Laurent de Wilde (* 1960 in Washington, DC ) is a French jazz pianist.

Life

Born in the USA, he moved the family back to France in 1964. In 1981 he studied philosophy at the École Normale Superieure in Paris . In 1983 he went to Brooklyn College near New York City on a music scholarship and stayed in New York after the scholarship expired, where he performed with Greg Osby , Reggie Workman and Ralph Moore and became a member of the trumpeter Eddie Henderson's band (“Off the boat ”1987,“ Odd and Blue ”1989 with Jack DeJohnette ,“ Colors of Manhattan ”1990).

In the early 1990s he moved back to Paris . In 1992 he released the trio album "Open Changes" with drummer Billy Drummond and bassist Ira Coleman , which brought him the 1993 Prix ​​Django Reinhardt . He played with Dee Dee Bridgewater , Aldo Romano , André Ceccarelli , Barney Wilen , Harold Land and released his successful album "The Back Burner" (Sony Jazz) in 1995 with Coleman, Drummond, Henderson and the alto saxophonist Antonio Hart .
