Andrea Pozza (born October 17, 1965 in Genoa ) is an Italian jazz pianist and composer of modern jazz .

Live and act

Pozza first played in a jazz club in Genoa when he was 13 . In the 1990s he was part of the Steve Grossman quartet . He also worked for decades with the tenor saxophonist Gianni Basso , in whose quartet he played and with whom he recorded a lot.

He also played with Charlie Mariano , Chet Baker , Lee Konitz , George Coleman , Al Gray , Sweets Edison , Scott Hamilton , Sal Nistico , Bobby Durham , Bob Sheppard , Furio Di Castri, among others . He also worked in piano duos with Dado Moroni and Enrico Pieranunzi, among others . He plays in the quintet of Rosario Bonaccorso .

From 2004 to 2008 he was a member of the Enrico Rava quintet , with Roberto Gatto , Rosario Bonaccorso and Gianluca Petrella , with whom he recorded The Words and the Days (ECM 2007). He has also performed with Rava, Roswell Rudd and Pat Metheny . With Rava and Basso he recorded Andrea Pozza meets Gianni Bosso feat. Enrico Rava- Making Whoopie (Philology 2003), which was later followed with Rava Andrea Pozza meets Enrico Rava: Stormy Weather (Philology 2013).

He also plays solo and with his own bands, for example in a trio (album A Jellyfish from Bosporus , ABEAT Records, 2013, with Aldo Zunino , bass, and Shane Forbes, drums), and in 2011 with his European Quintet (album Gull's Flight ), with Christian Brewer (alto saxophone), Shane Forbes (drums), Dick de Graaf (tenor and soprano saxophone), Jos Machtel (bass). Other albums with his trio were Introducing (Philology 2003), Plays Ellington, Monk and Himself (Gofour 2005), Sweet Lorraine (2005).
