Furio Di Castri

Furio Di Castri (born September 12, 1955 in Milan ) is an Italian jazz bassist.

Di Castri has been playing the bass professionally since 1977, and from 1978 to 1986 he appeared in the group "Lingomania" of saxophonist Maurizio Giammarco and drummer Roberto Gatto . From 1981 he was also a member of Enrico Rava's quartet , with whom he toured Europe and recorded four albums. He played with Dave Liebman , Albert Mangelsdorff , Steve Lacy , Joe Henderson (1988), Paul Bley (1988, 1990), Chet Baker (1979 to 1986), Pharoah Sanders , Barry Altschul , Daniel Humair , Sal Nistico , Art Farmer , Philip Catherine , Charles Lloyd , Paul Motian , Enrico Pieranunzi and Michel Portal . He has also performed solo, in a duo with Lee Konitz and Paolo Fresu (in the 1990s) and in a trio with Flavio Boltro . From 1988 he was a regular member of Aldo Romano's quartet , with whom he recorded five albums. Di Castro also composes and contributes music for theater and dance theater projects, films and art performances.
