Baptiste Trotignon (born June 17, 1974 in Meulan near Paris ) is a French jazz musician ( piano , composition ).

Trotignon began on the violin in 1980, but switched to the piano at the age of nine, where he received his first (classical) lessons in Romans-sur-Izère, where he lived at the time, and attended the conservatory in Nantes from 1987 onwards. In addition to accompanying work at the opera in Nantes, he turned himself to jazz and gave a first concert with friends in a local café in 1989. In 1991 he attended the École National de Musique de Gennevilliers. In 1994 he played a pianist in Alain Corneau's film "Le Nouveau Monde" . From 2009 he worked in a quartet and a duo with Mark Turner , later in a duo with Minino Garay ( Chimichurri , 2016). On his double album You 've Changed (2019) he can be heard solo and in duets with Ibrahim Maalouf , Camélia Jordana , Thomas de Pourquery , Joe Lovano , Vincent Ségal and trumpeter Avishai Cohen .

Trotignon continued to play with musicians such as Aldo Romano (for example on his album Chante and the joint album Flower Power , 2006), André Ceccarelli , Stéphane Belmondo , the brothers François and Louis Moutin (he is a member of the Moutin reunion with Rick Margitza ), Alexandre Tassel , Claudia Solal , Éric Le Lann , Jean-Loup Longnon , Albert Mangelsdorff , David Murray and Christian Escoudé . Prizes and awards

In 1996 Trotignon won a second prize as a soloist in the La Défense jazz competition . In 2001 he received the Django d'Or as "New Talent" and in the same year the Prix ​​Django Reinhardt . In 2002 he received the Grand Prize of the City of Paris in the Martial Solal competition , which takes place every four years, and in 2003 the “ Les Victoires du Jazz ” prize.
