Jérôme Sabbagh
Jerome Sabbagh (* 14. September 1973 ) is a French jazz - saxophonist .
Live and act
Sabbagh studied with Philippe Chagne , Éric Barret and Jean-Louis Chautemps before moving to the United States at the age of twenty. He studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston a. a. with George Garzone , Bill Pierce , Dave Liebman and Joe Viola . In 1995 he moved to New York, where he co-founded the Flipside formation (with Matt Penman, among others ). In the 2000s he took a. a. with Pablo Ablanedo / Anat Cohen , Laurent Coq and Joel Harrison ; he also played with Paul Motian , Victor Lewis , Bill Stewart , Billy Drummond , Eliot Zigmund , Andrew Cyrille , Damion Reid , Reggie Workman , Joe Sanders , Lage Lund , Danny Grissett and Guillermo Klein . In 2004 he released the debut album Like a Tree in the City on Fresh Sound Records , which he recorded with Ben Monder , Joe Martin and Ted Poor in New York. In the field of jazz he was involved in 13 recording sessions between 1997 and 2011. Currently (2019) he plays in the Adam Birnbaum Quartet (with Yasushi Nakamura and Rodney Green (musician) Rodney Green ).
