Ted Poor
Ted Poor (* 1981 in Rochester , NY ) is an American jazz - drummer and representative of modern creative style.
Live and act
Poor attended the Eastman School of Music from 1999 to 2003 , where he studied drums with Rich Thompson and percussion with John Beck . During this time he was a member of several bands, including the Respect Sextet , Neos , the Ike Sturm Ensemble and the Jerseyband .
After graduating, he became a member of Ben Monder's Quartet, with which he recorded an album in 2005, and the trio of trumpeter Cuong Vu , with whom he toured the USA and Europe. In 2004 he was involved in Chris Potter's recording with the hr big band . He is also a member of the Jerome Sabbagh Quartet .
In 2005 he released All Around , his first album as a band leader. With Ben Monder and Ralph Alessi he founded the trio Third Wheel . In 2015 Pirouet Records released the album Amateur Dentist , which he recorded in a trio with Matt Penman and Joris Roelofs . As a sideman he worked a. a. with Chris Potter, Bill Frisell , Maria Schneider , Aaron Parks , Kurt Rosenwinkel , Mike Moreno , Kermit Driscoll , Kate McGarry , Marc Ducret , David Fiuczynski , Rich Perry , Joe Locke , Ahmad Mansour , Wycliffe Gordon , Cuong Vu , John McNeil , Nicolas Masson and Andy Manndorff .
