Pirouet Records

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pirouet Records is an independent jazz label founded by saxophonist Jason Seizer and businessman Ralph Bürklin in 2003 in Munich.

The label, which started with albums by Munich musicians such as Walter Lang , Peter O'Mara and Seizer, has now released more than 100 productions and has signed European as well as American musicians: The spectrum ranges from Marc Copland , John Abercrombie , Bill Carrothers , Gary Peacock , Kevin Hays , Drew Gress , Larry Goldings and Greg Osby to Florian Ross , Jochen Rückert , Pablo Held , Henning Sieverts , Ronny Graupe and Jürgen Friedrich to Taiko Saitō , Sebastian Gille , Bastian Stein , Joris Roelofs , Ben van Gelder , Anna Webber or Kathrin Pechlof .

As the label's artistic director, Seizer has set himself the maxim: “How can I make the best of the music and the things that are there? What means do I use to influence this music as much as necessary, but as little as possible, in order to capture the energy that is in it? ”Part of the recognizable appearance is that abstract images and graphics are used to design the CD covers be used. In October 2016 it was announced that the label is taking a break after 98 records; the albums are still available in stores. Since 2018 new productions have appeared again, for example by Pablo Held, Robert Landfermann or Hubert Nuss .
