Treytorrens de Loys (born September 5, 1857 in Le Havre , † September 4, 1917 in Delsberg ) was a Swiss officer .

Life

De Loys holds an engineering degree from King's College London . In 1885 he married Marie-Madeleine Ebrard. From 1887 to 1890 he was riding master at the federal equestrian centers in Thun , from 1895 to 1899 instructor at the central schools of the Swiss Army .

In a 305-kilometer endurance ride organized by the Zurich Riding Club in 1899 from Zurich via Bern, Thun, Brünig and Lucerne to Zurich, in which six of the eight officers who started reached the finish, the cavalry major walked after 37 hours and 7 minutes, of which he walked 58 km marched next to his horse, emerged victorious.

He commanded from 1900, the Dragoon Regiment 2, 1904, the Cavalry Brigade 1 and from 1910 the Infantry Brigade 1. Although Loy never staff officer had been, he was appointed Oberstdivisionär promoted and commanded from 1913 to his death in active service , the 2nd Division .

In August 1916, in a letter to the editor to the Solothurner Zeitung , which he signed as division commander, he supported a contribution by the young Eugen Bircher that was critical of the government .
