Hervé de Weck

Hervé-Maurice-Paul de Weck (born February 4, 1943 in Freiburg im Üechtland ) is a Swiss military historian .

De Weck was born in 1943 as the son of an agricultural engineer and a teacher in Freiburg im Üechtland. After the Matura Type A in 1963 at the district school in time for the Canton Bern , today the canton of Jura belonging Pruntrut he studied at the University of Friborg (lic. Phil. 1968). He then worked as a high school teacher for history and French literature at his former school until 2003.

In 1973 he was a founding member of the ice hockey club HC Ajoie , as its president he served in 1983/84; today the club plays in the second highest league ( National League B ). Promoted to lieutenant in 1965 , the intelligence officer in the Swiss army made it to the rank of colonel . De Weck is a member of several military science associations; From 1991 to 2006 he was editor-in-chief of the Revue militaire suisse (RMS) of the Swiss Officers' Society . He is also the author and editor of numerous military history studies, a. a. in cooperation with the Swiss Association for Military History and Military Science (SVMM), and contributor to the Historical Lexicon of Switzerland (HLS). From 1980 to 2005 he served as a Swiss representative on the board of the Commission Internationale d'Histoire Militaire (CIHM); today he is their honorary treasurer.

De Weck, a Catholic, is married and has two children.
