Bill Carrothers

Bill Carrothers (* 13. July 1964 in Minneapolis ) is an American jazz - pianist .

Live and act

Carrothers began his musical career as a teenager playing with local bands in his hometown and recording his debut album, The Artful Dodger . In 1988 he moved to New York City . In the 1990s he played with Bill Stewart ( Snide Remarks , Telepathy ), Ira Sullivan , Jay Eppstein , Scott Colley , Wendy Lewis and Herwig Gradischnig ; In 1997 he worked on Dave Douglas ' album Moving Portrait . In 1999 a duo album with Bill Stewart was created for Birdology . In 2002 he recorded his album Ghost Ships in a trio with Stewart and the saxophonist Anton Denner ; In 2003/04 there were 14 improvisations that Carrothers recorded in trio for the album Shine Ball . In addition, an album in a duet with the pianist Marc Copland was created in 2005 ( No Choice , 2005). With his regular group the albums I Love Paris (2005), Keep Your Sunny Side up (2007), Joyspring (2009) and Castaways (2012) appeared on the Pirouet label ; Trio recordings with Bill Stewart and Gary Peacock from 1992 were released there in 2008 ( Home Raw ). His album Duetts with Bill Stewart (1999) was a. a. awarded the German Record Prize.
