Port Grimaud is a southern French tourist settlement founded by the architect François Spoerry and has existed since the 1960s, with the character of a post-modern planned city , which is consciously based on traditional Mediterranean designs.

The privately financed project in the luxury category was realized from 1964 on the drained lagoon and marshland of the municipality of Grimaud in the Var department . The model for the system is Venice with its canals, bridges and pedestrian alleys. The individual houses are equipped with boat berths for the owners' private yachts.

The complex was expanded in 1974, but still remained a private estate, including the streets and public spaces. The influx of tourists in recent years has led to measures by the community of owners to better protect the privacy that is threatened. Among other things, individual traffic routes were closed to visitors from the outside.
