Construction work on the building began in March 2012 after a four-month delay due to complaints from the city council and ended in May 2014. At the end of 2014, 1,100 employees of the Federal Public Service Finance (SPF Finances) moved into the high-rise . The buildings used by the service until then are to be demolished. The Tour des Finances de Liège has a height of 136 meters, which are spread over 27 floors. Thus it will be the tallest building in the city, province and one of the tallest buildings in the country . It is also given the title of tallest building outside of Brussels.
