Mike Moreno

Michael "Mike" Moreno (born October 8, 1978 ) is an American jazz musician ( guitar , composition ) who moves between post-bop and modern creative .

Moreno, who is from Houston , had a music class at Houston High School for the Performing and Visual Arts . After graduating from high school, he moved to New York City to study at The New School on a scholarship . During this time he worked in the New York jazz scene a. a. with Joshua Redman , Lizz Wright , Nicholas Payton , Terence Blanchard , Greg Osby , Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra , Jeff Tain Watts , Kenny Garrett , Ravi Coltrane . The first recordings were made in 2001 with Jeremy Pelt ( Profile , Fresh Sound New Talent ), on whose album Identity (Max Jazz, 2005) he was also involved. In the following years he continued to play with Robert Glasper , Logan Richardson , Jimmy Greene , Geoff Keezer , Brian Patneaude , Dayna Stephens , John Ellis , Gretchen Parlato , Marcus Strickland ( Open Reel Deck ), Yosvany Terry , Josh Roseman , Aaron Parks and Leonardo Cioglia . In 2007 he released the album Between the Lines (World Culture Music) under his own name , which was followed by other albums. In the field of jazz he was involved in 45 recording sessions between 2001 and 2018, most recently with Stefon Harris .
